Hotel

Burj Al Arab is a luxurious hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Standing at a height of 321 meters, it is the third tallest hotel in the world and a symbol of the city’s modern architecture. Built on an artificial island, the hotel’s unique sail-shaped design has made it an iconic landmark of the city.

History and Design:

The idea of Burj Al Arab was first conceptualized by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, in the late 1990s. The hotel was designed by the British architect Tom Wright of WS Atkins, who came up with the idea of a sail-shaped design inspired by the city’s maritime heritage.

The construction of Burj Al Arab began in 1994 and took five years to complete. The hotel was officially opened in December 1999, with a grand inauguration ceremony attended by several celebrities and dignitaries from around the world.

The hotel’s unique design features a steel frame structure covered in a thin layer of Teflon-coated fiberglass. The sail-shaped structure is designed to withstand strong winds and is illuminated at night, giving it a distinctive appearance in the city’s skyline.

Accommodation:

Burj Al Arab is known for its luxurious accommodation options, offering guests a range of suites and villas with stunning views of the Arabian Gulf. The hotel features 202 luxurious duplex suites, ranging from 170 square meters to 780 square meters in size.

The hotel’s signature suites, the Royal Suite and the Presidential Suite, are among the most luxurious hotel rooms in the world. The Royal Suite spans across two floors and features a private cinema, a library, a spa, and a dining room that can accommodate up to 12 guests.

The Presidential Suite, located on the 25th floor, features a private elevator, a spacious living room, and a dining room with a 16-seat table. The suite also has a private cinema, a spa, and a library, and offers stunning views of the Arabian Gulf and the city skyline.

Dining:

Burj Al Arab is home to several award-winning restaurants, offering guests a range of culinary experiences from around the world. The hotel’s flagship restaurant, Al Muntaha, is located on the 27th floor and offers panoramic views of the city and the sea. The restaurant serves contemporary European cuisine, and its menu is curated by Chef Francky Semblat, who has worked at several Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe.

Another popular restaurant at Burj Al Arab is the Al Mahara, which is located on the ground floor and is designed to resemble an underwater aquarium. The restaurant serves seafood dishes and features a floor-to-ceiling aquarium filled with exotic marine life.

Other dining options at Burj Al Arab include the Scape Restaurant and Lounge, which offers Californian fusion cuisine, and the Skyview Bar, which offers an extensive selection of wines and cocktails, along with stunning views of the city skyline.

Activities and Amenities:

Burj Al Arab offers guests a range of activities and amenities, including a private beach, a spa, and a fitness center. The hotel’s private beach is located on an artificial island and offers guests a secluded and luxurious experience.

The hotel’s spa, Talise Spa, offers a range of treatments and therapies, including massages, facials, and body treatments. The spa features a swimming pool, a sauna, and a steam room, and offers stunning views of the Arabian Gulf.

The hotel also offers several recreational activities, including water sports, such as windsurfing and kayaking, and a range of excursions, including desert safaris and city tours. Guests can also enjoy shopping at the hotel’s retail outlets, which feature a range of luxury brands and designer labels.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Burj Al Arab is a symbol of Dubai’s modern architecture and luxurious lifestyle. With its sail-shaped design, luxurious accommodation options, award-winning restaurants, and range of activities and amenities, the hotel has become one of the most iconic landmarks of the city.

The hotel has won several awards and accolades over the years, including the “Best Hotel in the World” award by the Ultratravel Awards in 2019. Its luxurious amenities and unparalleled service have attracted several high-profile guests, including celebrities, politicians, and business leaders.

However, the hotel’s luxurious amenities and high prices have also attracted criticism from some quarters. Some critics have argued that the hotel’s opulence is a symbol of Dubai’s excess and extravagance, which has come at the cost of social inequality and human rights abuses.

Despite these criticisms, Burj Al Arab remains a popular destination for luxury travelers and those looking for a taste of Dubai’s opulent lifestyle. With its iconic design, luxurious accommodation options, and range of activities and amenities, the hotel is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the best of what Dubai has to offer.

What is your policy on 'Lost and Found' items

Should any guests lose personal belongings whilst staying at a Jumeirah Hotel or Resort in Dubai, if recovered, the item will be recorded as 'found' by that particular property. Each property keeps detailed records of all 'found' items and will store these for a maximum of three months. After this period, in line with the directives of the General Department of Criminal Investigation in Dubai, all unclaimed items will be handed over to the nearest Police Station. These 'found' items will then be kept at the police warehouse for a further three months after which they will be auctioned, and any funds raised given to charity.Should hotel guests need to locate any item after the initial three month period expires, they are requested to contact the hotel who will assist in coordinating with the police station where the found items are handed over.
