The Font Magica Fountain Barcelona
The Font Màgica, also known as the Magic Fountain, is one of Barcelona’s most popular attractions. It is located at the base of Montjuïc Hill, near the Plaça d’Espanya. The fountain was built in 1929 for the Barcelona International Exposition and was designed by Carles Buigas. It is an impressive sight, especially at night when the fountain is illuminated with a colorful light show.
The Magic Fountain is a true feat of engineering, with over 3000 water jets that are synchronized to music and light. The fountain is designed to create a choreography of water, light, and music that creates a mesmerizing experience for visitors. The fountain is also known for its innovative use of recycled water, making it one of the most sustainable attractions in the city.
The fountain is free to visit and is open year-round, although its schedule varies depending on the season. During the summer months, the fountain operates every Thursday to Sunday from 9 pm to 11:30 pm, while in winter it operates on Friday and Saturday from 7 pm to 9 pm. The fountain is closed during certain periods of the year for maintenance, so it is advisable to check the schedule before visiting.
In addition to the fountain show, there are plenty of other things to do in the area. Visitors can explore the many attractions of Montjuïc Hill, including the Montjuïc Castle, the National Art Museum of Catalonia, and the Joan Miró Foundation. The Plaça d’Espanya is also a popular destination, with its impressive architecture and shopping opportunities.
