Art center Museum

The Elgiz Museum is one of the leading contemporary art museums in Istanbul, Turkey. The museum is home to a wide range of contemporary art pieces that reflect different styles and genres, as well as artistic movements. It is located in the city’s financial district, Maslak, and is a must-visit attraction for anyone who is interested in modern and contemporary art.

The museum was founded by Sevda and Can Elgiz, two prominent art collectors and philanthropists, who have been collecting art since the 1980s. The couple’s collection features works by prominent Turkish and international artists, and has grown to be one of the largest contemporary art collections in the country.

The Elgiz Museum’s mission is to promote contemporary art, create an awareness of the value and importance of art, and to be a center of artistic and cultural exchange. The museum houses over 1,000 pieces of art, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos, and installations, and is known for its exhibitions that are constantly changing.

The museum’s galleries are spread out over three floors, and feature both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The first floor is dedicated to the museum’s permanent collection, which includes works by renowned artists such as Ai Weiwei, Richard Long, and Tracey Emin. The second floor hosts temporary exhibitions, which change on a regular basis, and feature the work of emerging and established contemporary artists.

One of the most popular features of the museum is the sculpture garden, which is located in the museum’s courtyard. The garden is home to several sculptures by prominent artists such as Richard Deacon and Tony Cragg, and provides a tranquil space for visitors to relax and enjoy the art.

The Elgiz Museum also hosts educational programs, including artist talks, workshops, and seminars, as part of its efforts to promote contemporary art and provide opportunities for learning and engagement. The museum’s educational programs are open to the public and are designed to appeal to visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

The museum has received critical acclaim for its contribution to the contemporary art scene in Istanbul, and for its efforts to support emerging artists. The Elgiz Museum has been recognized as a leading institution for contemporary art in the country, and has helped to promote Istanbul as a cultural destination.

In addition to its exhibitions and educational programs, the museum has a gift shop that sells art-related items, such as books, postcards, and posters, as well as a café that serves light refreshments.

Overall, the Elgiz Museum is a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in contemporary art. Its collection of artworks reflects the diverse nature of contemporary art, and the museum’s educational programs provide visitors with a unique and engaging cultural experience. The Elgiz Museum has become an integral part of Istanbul’s cultural landscape, and has helped to put the city on the map as a leading destination for contemporary art.

I went to the terrace exhibition. My visit to the built-in collection was a great experience. I find it important to follow the journey of young artists during their work and production process with the Unseen exhibition.
