The Moco Museum, located in both Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Barcelona, Spain, is an independent museum that showcases a range of modern, contemporary, and street art from established and up-and-coming artists. Its impressive collection includes works by Banksy, Jean-Michel Basquiat, JR, KAWS, Keith Haring, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Yayoi Kusama, Andy Warhol, Studio Irma, and many more.
In Amsterdam, the Moco Museum is housed in the historic Villa Alsberg on Museumplein, designed by Eduard Cuypers in 1904. The building served as a family home until 1939 and then as a school and law firm office. In Barcelona, the museum is located in Palacio Cervelló, a 16th-century palace on Montcada Street, formerly the private residence of the Cervelló family.
The Moco Museum is a private initiative by founders Lionel and Kim Logchies, and the art exhibited is partly on loan from their international network of collectors and art enthusiasts. Since its inception, the Moco Museum has aimed to make art accessible to a broad audience, welcoming nearly two million visitors from over 120 different countries.
Moco Museum believes that art can do more than just be viewed; it can challenge norms, inspire, and empower communities. The museum advocates for an inclusive model, presenting accessible shows and exhibitions that enlighten and question the world around us. Along with showcasing established artists, the Moco Museum also provides a platform for up-and-coming talents, such as THE KID, Guillermo Lorca, and Reflecting Forward by Studio Irma.
The museum is committed to street art as a means of connecting people and sparking conversations about the world and shared existence. In addition, the Moco Museum supports various charities such as Movement On The Ground, Aidsfonds, and Metakids, and donates a portion of its proceeds to these organizations.
With its mission to empower and inspire through art, the Moco Museum is a leading destination for art enthusiasts worldwide. In art, the museum trusts to challenge ideologies, open up minds, and make the world a better place. Visitors can unlock the power of art to wake them, shake them, and make them see the world differently.
