ABOUT:
The three-story museum features permanent collections of art by renowned local artists and readers from various media outlets and techniques. The museum was originally held at Bait Al Serkal, now the Sharjah Art Foundation. It was moved to its present building, which has traditional air-conditioned buildings, in 1997.

There is so much for visitors to see and enjoy in the museum! From its regular collections to a temporary exhibition, the museum offers an exciting experience for artists and art lovers alike.
ALL COLLECTION:
Located on the first floor, the museum’s permanent collection contains nearly 500 sculptures and paintings, focusing on contemporary and contemporary paintings from the second half of the 20th century onwards. The collection showcases works of art from both well-known and well-known artists from the Arab World, including Syria, Palestine, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Sudan and Yemen, highlighting their contribution to the global arts scene. Some of the most talented artists you can see at the Sharjah art museum include Abdul Qader Al Rais, Obaid Suroor, Faiq Hassan, Sliman Mansour, Widad Al Orfali and Ismail Fattah Al-Turk.
TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS:
In addition to its permanent collection, the museum also hosted several temporary exhibitions in partnership with art centers around the world, including TATE Britain in London and The Gibran Museum in Lebanon.
CURRENT EXHIBIITIONS:
One of the ongoing Sharjah Art Museum exhibitions is a collaboration with the Barjeel Art Foundation, which will run until 2023 and is called ‘A Century in Flux’. The museum exhibits a lively art exhibition showing how Arab artists responded to political events between the 19th and 20th centuries. If you are interested in visual exhibitions, you can check out ‘Homebound: A Journey in Photography’ on the museum’s website. The exhibition will run until the end of 2021 and will take the award-winning trip, with Ethiopian photographer Aïda Muluneh as an artist and her contributions to the field.
UPCOMING EXHIBITIONS:
Looking for upcoming shows at the Sharjah Art Museum? Note the 11th edition of Lasting Impressions, which will feature the works of the famous Algerian artist, Baya Mahieddine. From the 25th of February to the 31st of July 2021, the show will feature more than 70 works from this famous artist.

TIME:
Wondering when to visit a museum? The opening hours of the Sharjah Art Museum run from 08:00 am – 08:00 pm, Saturday through Thursday. On Friday, museum times are from 04:00 pm to 08:00 pm. The times of a museum cafe, gift shop and library are the same. However, keep in mind that the Sharjah Museum is often closed for public holidays such as Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha.
LOCATION:
The museum is located in the Al Shuwaihean region and is part of The Heart of Sharjah. Visitors will find a museum in the Arts District, opposite the Emirates Fine Arts Society. With the museum located in Sharjah’s heritage site, visitors can explore many of the surrounding areas, including the Sharjah Art Institute, Souk Al Bahar and Sharjah Corniche.
