Skydeck Chicago
Skydeck Chicago is an observation deck located on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower) in downtown Chicago. The Skydeck offers visitors breathtaking views of the city’s skyline and lakefront, as well as a range of interactive exhibits and experiences.
The Skydeck experience begins with a ride on one of the tower’s high-speed elevators, which take visitors to the 103rd floor in just 60 seconds. Upon arrival, guests are treated to 360-degree views of Chicago, including iconic landmarks such as Navy Pier, Millennium Park, and the John Hancock Center.
One of the highlights of the Skydeck is The Ledge, a glass box that extends 4.3 feet from the side of the building and allows visitors to step out and experience the sensation of being suspended 1,353 feet in the air. The Ledge is made of four layers of half-inch thick glass and can hold up to 10,000 pounds.
In addition to The Ledge, the Skydeck offers a range of other interactive exhibits and experiences, such as a green screen photo opportunity, a short film about the tower’s construction and history, and exhibits on Chicago’s famous architecture and history.
The Skydeck is open year-round, and offers extended hours during the summer months. It is a popular tourist attraction and is one of the most visited observation decks in the United States. Overall, Skydeck Chicago is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the beauty and majesty of Chicago’s skyline.
