ABOUT
Al Jazzat is a community living a few miles from the west coast of Sharjah. It is located in the heart of Al Riqa Suburb, a northwestern region near the Ajman-Sharjah border. Al Riqa Suburb lies among the city’s most respected districts such as Al Heerah Suburb, the mighty Halwan Suburb and the much larger Wasit Suburb. As a result, the public enjoys great connections to some of the most important places in Sharjah. Also, the city’s main street, Al Wahda Street gives the public access to Sharjah International Airport and connect it to other cities. Arranged in the form of a grid, the public infrastructure consists of low-rise accommodation. Commercial and recreational areas are centered in the heart of Al Jazzat. At the boundary of the highways, there are four sides of this unpaved area. These roads include Sheikh Majed Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Street (S115), Sheikh Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Street (S130), Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saqr Al Qasimi Street (S128) and Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Street (S111). Al Jazzat is well-organized. While there is not much greenery on the roads, the buildings have private gardens filled with a variety of large trees and shrubs.
SUPERMAKETS
One of the largest stores in Sharjah, the Sharjah Cooperative Society has one of the local branches. This supermarket allows customers to shop online in Sharjah, for a seamless experience. The 24-hour supermarket is located on Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Street. Many supermarkets in Al Jazzat are located near highways. These include Al Madina Supermarket and Marwan Supermarket. Available to residents living in the heart of Al Jazzat, store options include Sultan Rahma Al Owais Grocery, Al Mashghoni Grocery and Al Darwish Grocery.
CHURCHES, TEMPLE AND MOSQUES
There are several Al Jazzat Muslims. The Thabet Ibn Qays Mosque and Malik Ibn Anas Mosque are located in the center of the community, while the Ammar Bin Yasser Mosque and Ahmed Ibn Hanbal Masjid are located in two adjacent sections. The churches near Al Jazzat are about 8 miles [8 km] from the southwestern community of Al Yarmook. These include the Church of the Living God, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, the Roman Catholic Church St. Michael and St Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Cathedral. Hindus and Sikhs will have to drive 30 minutes to visit the gurudwaras and temples of Bur Dubai.
SCHOOLS
Al Jazzat is known for accommodating many prestigious educational institutions. Kindergarten options include Golden Nursery, Al Zahra Nursery, Little Flower Nursery and Al Marah & Al Leab Nursery. The British Orchard Nursery is also located nearby. Schools in Al Jazzat include Sharjah Public School, Al Shams Center and Al Zahrah High School. There is also a school that offers religious studies called the Huda Center for those who want to memorize the Holy Quran. The nearest tertiary institution, London American City College in the Saif Zone is about 14 minutes drive away from the community. Other prestigious universities in University City Sharjah such as Al Qassimia University, University of Sharjah and American University of Sharjah are only 20 minutes by car.
MEDICAL STORES AND HOSPITALS
There are two clinics in Al Jazzat, Al Riqqa Health Center located in the neighborhood center and the British Medical Complex near the main road. Other notable treatment centers near Al Jazzat include Celebrities Medical Center in Al Falaj and Emirates Red Crescent Medical Center in Al Ramla East. The nearest hospital is Kuwait Hospital in Al Qadisiya. It is one of the top government hospitals in Sharjah.
PROPERTY
The list of popular shopping places in Sharjah is endless without mentioning Al Shaab Village. Luckily for the residents, it is located in the vicinity of Al Hazannah. The mall near Al Jazzat is designed as a style exhibition hall and contains more than 250 shops. Al Shaab Village also has a supermarket, food court, indoor arena, billiard center, outdoor amusement park, rink-skating rink and cinema. Other major destinations such as Mega Mall Sharjah, City Center Nasseriya and Grand Avenue Mall are available within 10 to 15 minutes.
Restaurants
There are state-of-the-art restaurants in Al Jazzat that offer light drinks. These include Shams Al Aseel Cafeteria, Al Malaieb Cafeteria and Maharat Al Emarat Cafeteria. Close to the community, restaurants in Al Shaab Village include Pizzaro and Wazzup Dog. A 7-minute walk along the coast of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi can lead one to a restaurant options trail. Restaurants that serve cooked food in the area include KFC, Hardee’s, McDonald’s and Burger King. Sealand Restaurant and Sadaf Restaurant offers a variety of options.
Beaches
Al Jazzat is about 4 km from the king’s beach where the next 3.3-kilometer Sharjah Beach project will be developed. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Sharjah. In the meantime, seafarers can visit Al Khan Beach, located about 18 minutes by car. Al Khan Beach is known for its naval center and surf school, and most casual swimmers can enjoy a dedicated swimming pool.
RECREATION ACTIVITIES
The great circle of Cultural Square is the closest place to the south. Cultural Square is located near the Sharjah library, the Sharjah Ruler Office, the Cultural Palace and the Department of Technology. The Cultural Palace hosts many festivals, theaters and supports the local theater community. Cultural Square is also known as the monument that sits in the middle of the square. It is an open book that many think refers to the Holy Quran.
