Al Mareija is a community in the waters of Shajrah, better known as the home of the Heart of Sharjah – a major heritage project in the UAE and the Gulf region. One regional corner is dedicated to cultural and traditional institutions such as the Sharjah Center for the Art of Arabic Calligraphy, Heart of Sharjah and the Sharjah Heritage Museum. Located near Corniche Street and Al Arouba Street, the area offers a smooth view of Chalid Lake flowing along it, adding beauty to the living quarters. Al Mareija has an ideal combination of medium and high-rise buildings with all the basic amenities of the residents. Al Mareija is preferred by families and singletones as it is close to schools, supermarkets and health care facilities. It is easy to move from here to other parts of Sharjah.
As mentioned earlier, the buildings in Al Mareija are only available for rent. One can find many apartments in the Abou Jameza Building 2. The suspension buildings range from the studios to one bedroom and one with two bedrooms. Flats are popular among singletons, couples and small families. Taxes are expensive compared to other settlements in Sharjah. Also, being a marine community is an added benefit.
TRANSPORT AND PARKING
Since Al Mareija is a well-organized community, parking is not a problem. The residence buildings have a single car park. Visitors can also find parking spaces in designated areas. The Al Jubail bus station is located in the vicinity of Al Jubail. A 15 minute walk or a 5 minute walk from Al Mareija. It is best if residents have their own vehicles to travel.
Finding groceries is not a problem because there are many shops in Al Mareija. Abdullah Asad Ali Supermarket and Al Madeena Supermarket lie near Hynn Avenue. The Al Hijra supermarket, Al Madina Supermarket and Dar Nouf Supermarket have dots along Al Arouba Road to the west of the community. There are many supermarkets in the neighboring Al Jubail community where Al Mareija residents can go to buy food. The list includes Nestus Supermarket, Fathima Supermarket, Al Kabayel Discount Center, Al Ameera Supermarket and Al Astool Supermarket.
CHURCHES, TEMPLE AND MOSQUES
Al Mareija welcomes citizens of different religions and religions. There are dozens of churches near Al Mareija, precisely in Al Yarmook. A few options include Christian Fellowship Church, Apostolic Church, Russian Orthodox Church, Saint Michael Catholic Church and Grace Evangelical Church. Since there are no temples in Sharjah, Hindus should travel to Dubai to visit one. Fortunately, Sharjah and Dubai are close emirates. Gurudwaras and Bur Dubai temples are accessible within 25 minutes. Sharjah is home to beautiful Muslims and there are six Muslims in Al Mareija. One can find Bani Shaibah Mosque, Al Zahra Mosque, Obaid Bin Eisa Mosque, Sharjah Central Mosque and Al Shoyoukh Mosque in the area. The great King Faisal Mosque is located near Al Mareija. It was built in the 1980’s and is still popular today. It is a well-maintained mosque with large sex prayer halls and ample parking.
There are no schools in the area, but there are a few in the surrounding areas. Emirate Private School is 2 km away. Al Qasmiya Primary School for preschoolers is eight minutes away. Al Ma’arifa International Private School near Al Mareija offers both American and British courses. It’s a 13-minute walk from Al Mareija. University options include the Emirates Institute for Banking & Financial Study and Lincoln University of Business and Management, which is one of the top universities in Sharjah. Both of these options are less than 15 minutes long. Part of the well-known University City Sharjah options are within 25 minutes.
MEDICAL STORE AND HOSPITALS
Citizens can access NMC Medical Center, one of the largest tertiary institutions in the city to seek medical help. It has state-of-the-art health care facilities and has received the Sharjah Economic Excellence Award. This hospital near Al Mareija can be reached by 5 minutes or by 2 minutes by car. Another well-respected tertiary care hospital is Thumbay Hospital which is about the same distance away. Other nearby hospitals and clinics include Al Ahalia Medical Center, Al Zahra Hospital and Burjeel Hospital Sharjah. All of these are respectable treatment options in the city.
The people who live in the region have large stores to choose from when they prepare to shop. The Sharjah Shopping Center is one of the malls in Al Mareija in less than 4 minutes. The Sharjah Shopping Center is located in the busy Rolla Area. It has more than 30 stores in the mall including jewelry products such as Damascus and Atlas Jewelery. KM Trading which has been a popular clothing store in the UAE for decades has also been held at the Sharjah Shopping Center and operates on two floors. My City Center Nasseriya is about 6 minutes away from Carrefour supermarket inside making it easy for people to set up their own store. There are many shops selling including a small food court.
There are a few restaurants and restaurants in Al Mareija. One can enjoy Chinese, Arab and Asian food as many restaurants are lined up on the grounds. Popular Indian restaurants include Shivam Restaurant, Kabab Bombay Restaurant, Sumaya Restaurant and Uttam Restaurant. Most restaurants are easy to pack and serve vegetable dishes. Najmat Lahore Restaurant is a popular choice for Pakistani delicacies like biryani. The Chinese Kitchen Restaurant serves a variety of Chinese cuisine and Fen Café is a great alternative to coffee and other beverages. Saffron Restaurant has Asian, Chinese and BBQ dishes on their menu. Their open kitchen view provides quality assurance and there are private family rooms and majlis style living space. It has dots facing Arouba Street in Al Mareija.
All of Sharjah’s most popular seaside resorts are near Al Mareija, not to mention the residents enjoying the beautiful view of Khalid Lake from their homes. When you take an 8-minute walk through Sharjah Beach, it is under construction now and there are a few limitations compared to other beaches. Al Khan Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Sharjah, 10 minutes from Al Mareija. It is known for its water features and functional environment. Al Mamzar Beach Park is almost 21 minutes long. This sea has a 106-hectare sea with many lakes. It is one of the best places for families and has facilities such as showers, changing rooms, fast food kiosks and playgrounds.
