Art Gallery

Color Factory is a unique interactive museum experience that celebrates the joy and wonder of color. Founded in San Francisco in 2017, the museum has since expanded to locations in New York and Houston, with a new location in Chicago set to open in Spring 2022. The museum’s mission is to inspire visitors to bring the joy of art and color back into their everyday lives.

Each Color Factory location is carefully curated to offer visitors an immersive experience through interactive installations and rooms that celebrate color. The museum collaborates with artists, art institutions, nonprofits, and brand partners to create installations and exhibits that tell compelling stories and inspire joy.

One of the goals of Color Factory is to make art more accessible to people, and the museum achieves this by engaging visitors in unexpected ways. From the moment guests enter the lobby to the colorful moments in between and the gift shop, every aspect of the museum experience encourages play, discovery, and engagement with the senses.

In addition to celebrating the joy of color, Color Factory seeks to support the communities in which it operates. The museum works with local businesses and charitable organizations to identify charitable partnerships and support local businesses, making each location unique to its city.

The Color Factory’s first pop-up in San Francisco quickly became a sensation, with tickets selling out within hours of going on sale. The original pop-up location featured 15 interactive installations and exhibits designed by a team of artists and designers, and was inspired by the city’s vibrant culture and history.

The New York location of Color Factory opened in 2018 in the heart of SoHo, featuring 20,000 square feet of colorful, interactive exhibits. The exhibits were designed in collaboration with a variety of artists, including illustrator Andrew Rae, designer and artist Leah Rosenberg, and muralist Jason Polan.

The Houston location of Color Factory opened in 2019, and features 25,000 square feet of interactive exhibits designed to celebrate Houston’s unique culture and history. The museum partnered with a variety of local artists and institutions to create installations that reflect the city’s vibrant arts scene and diverse community.

The newest addition to the Color Factory family is the Chicago location, set to open in Spring 2022. The museum promises to bring the same sense of wonder and joy to the Windy City, with immersive exhibits and installations designed to celebrate the city’s unique culture and history.

Visitors to the Chicago location can expect to be transported to a world of vibrant colors and playful interactive installations, curated to inspire joy and creativity. The exhibits will feature collaborations with local artists, institutions, and businesses, making the museum a unique reflection of the city’s cultural landscape.

In addition to its immersive exhibits, Color Factory also hosts a variety of special events and programs, including private events, workshops, and other interactive experiences. The museum’s gift shop also offers a range of colorful products and souvenirs, including books, art prints, and other items designed to inspire joy and creativity.

In conclusion, Color Factory is a unique and inspiring museum experience that celebrates the joy of color and the power of art to bring people together. With its interactive exhibits, immersive rooms, and carefully curated moments, Color Factory offers visitors an opportunity to engage with their senses, embrace play and discovery, and expand their boundaries of perception. As the museum expands to new locations, it continues to collaborate with artists and communities to create immersive experiences that are as unique and diverse as the cities in which they are located.

FAQ's

Is each Color Factory location the same?

Each location includes a unique mix of site-specific installations, fan favorites, collaborations with new artists and creatives, and partnerships with local nonprofits and small food businesses we love.

What should I bring?

Along with your curiosity about color, you must bring your ticket (and someone 16 years old or older, if you are under 16 years old). Face masks are recommended but not required. Color Factory face masks are available for purchase onsite.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Sadly, no. Tickets can only be purchased in advance through our website. Tickets purchased on unauthorized third-party websites or through scalpers are not permitted.

What time do I need to arrive for my timed ticket?

Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early. If you arrive more than 10 minutes after your purchased time slot, we will help you reschedule your tickets for another time.

Anything special I need to know about checking in?

Our team will double check your ticket at the door. Once inside, you’ll register to access the photo booths throughout the exhibit and sign a required liability waiver.

How long does it usually take to go through Color Factory?

It varies for each guest, but visits usually last about an hour to an hour and a half. Additionally, your experience extends beyond Color Factory with our free Color Map, which is offered at the end of your visit. Our map guides you through nearby neighborhoods to discover even more colorful surprises our team has created for you.
