Dolphins and You is a popular tour company based in Oahu, Hawaii that offers visitors the opportunity to watch wild dolphins in their natural habitat. With a focus on sustainability and eco-friendliness, the company is dedicated to providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience that is both safe and respectful to the dolphins and the environment.

The tour begins with a short bus ride from Waikiki to the western coast of Oahu. Guests then board a catamaran that takes them to the dolphins’ natural habitat in the crystal-clear waters off the coast. Once the dolphins are located, guests are able to swim and interact with them in a safe and responsible manner, all while being guided by experienced and knowledgeable crew members.

The Dolphins and You tour is an all-inclusive experience that includes snorkeling gear, a Hawaiian-style buffet lunch, and unlimited beverages. Guests are also treated to a traditional Hawaiian chant and hula dance, as well as the opportunity to learn about the Hawaiian culture and the importance of protecting the ocean and its inhabitants.

One of the highlights of the Dolphins and You tour is the company’s commitment to eco-tourism and sustainability. The tour is designed to minimize its impact on the environment and promote responsible and respectful behavior around the dolphins. The company strictly adheres to guidelines established by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Hawaiian Division of Aquatic Resources, and works with marine biologists to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the dolphins.

Guests are instructed on the proper way to interact with the dolphins, and are encouraged to maintain a respectful distance at all times. The use of cameras and other personal devices is also limited to prevent any distractions or disturbances to the dolphins. By following these guidelines, the Dolphins and You tour helps to promote the conservation of the dolphins and their natural habitat.

In addition to its commitment to sustainability, Dolphins and You is known for its outstanding customer service and attention to detail. The crew members are highly trained and experienced, and work hard to ensure that every guest has an unforgettable experience. From providing informative commentary to helping guests with their snorkeling gear, the crew is dedicated to making sure that every detail is taken care of.

The tour is also highly customizable, with options for private charters and special events such as weddings and corporate retreats. For those looking for an even more immersive experience, Dolphins and You offers a “Dolphin Quest” package that includes an exclusive, intimate encounter with the dolphins, with just a few guests on board the boat.

Overall, the Dolphins and You tour is an excellent choice for those looking for an eco-friendly and sustainable way to interact with dolphins in their natural habitat. With a focus on safety, respect, and customer service, the tour provides an unforgettable experience that is both fun and educational. By supporting responsible and sustainable tourism, Dolphins and You is helping to promote the conservation of these amazing creatures for future generations to enjoy.

FAQ's

What shouldn't I bring?

Snorkel mask and fins (sterilized equipment shall be provided on the tour) *Camera Expensive jewelry, technology or other valuable or unnecessary belongings. Dolphins and You is not responsible for lost, stolen or water-damaged items. *While you can bring a waterproof camera, we do not recommend it. Our professional photographers can capture your entire tour with us for an additional $79 per group so you can fully be in the moment with the dolphins.

Does Dolphins and You provide transportation?

Bus transportation to and from select locations within Waikiki is included in your trip price. Alternatively, you may meet us at the Waianae Boat Harbor if you would like to provide your own transportation. There is no decreased rate for guests who opt out of transportation.

How long is the tour?

Tour timing can vary greatly due to the unpredictability of harbor traffic, dolphin behavior, ocean conditions, road traffic and more. But the tour is usually around 5 hours, including transportation, with about 3.5 hours spent on the boat.

What if I can't swim well?

Our guides are great with guests of all abilities, and every guest is outfitted with a life vest to stay afloat. But we recommend some prior swimming and/or snorkeling for the best experience.

Is there an age limit for watching dolphins?

In the interest of safety, we are unable to take guests who are 2 years old and under at this time. We recommend that only guests who are 2 years and older join our tours.

Am I guaranteed to see dolphins?

Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins are wild marine animals, so we cannot guarantee that we will encounter them. However, the vast majority of our tours (more than 90 percent) do see dolphins.

Can I touch the wild dolphins and turtles?

No. Touching marine life and coral is illegal by Hawaii state law. Contact with human skin can make dolphins and sea turtles more susceptible to disease and cause them stress. But the animals often come close by our guests, and simply being in their presence is incredible.

What is the water temperature in Hawaii? Will I need a wetsuit?

Hawaiian waters range from about 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in the wintertime to 82 degrees F (28 degrees C) in the summertime. Though this is much warmer than the natural ocean temperature in most parts of the world, you still may feel cold in the shade or rain in just a swimsuit. We offer wetsuits for rent at $10 per person.

Can I bring my own camera?

You may bring your own camera onboard at your own risk. But we recommend letting our professionals capture your experience so that you can fully enjoy your tour without worrying about getting the shot! Dolphins and You offers professional photography and videography for an additional $79. The photo packages usually contain around 600 over- and under-water shots of everyone on board, and the package includes a video highlight reel. We document the experience from beginning to end.
