Garden Park

Hong Kong Wetland Park is a popular ecological park located in the northern part of Hong Kong. It is a unique place where visitors can experience and explore the diversity of wetland wildlife and habitat in the city. The park was officially opened in 2006 and has since become a popular destination for tourists and locals alike.

The park spans an area of 61 hectares and is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. It is divided into two main areas: the Wetland Interactive World and the Wetland Reserve. The Wetland Interactive World is an indoor exhibition centre that showcases the importance of wetlands and their conservation. The Wetland Reserve, on the other hand, is an outdoor area that visitors can explore on foot or by bike. It is home to a large number of birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects.

One of the main attractions of the Hong Kong Wetland Park is its visitor centre. The visitor centre has several interactive exhibits that explain the importance of wetlands and their role in maintaining the ecosystem. It also has a 3D cinema that shows documentaries about the different habitats found in the park. Visitors can also get up close and personal with wetland creatures in the touch tank, where they can touch and learn about various marine creatures.

The Wetland Reserve is another highlight of the park. It is a natural area that is home to a diverse range of wildlife. The reserve has several walking trails that visitors can explore. One of the main attractions in the reserve is the bird watching tower, which offers visitors a chance to observe migratory birds during the winter months. The tower is a popular spot for birdwatchers and photographers, who can capture stunning images of the birds in their natural habitat.

The park also has a Butterfly Garden, where visitors can see a wide variety of butterflies and moths. The garden has over 20 species of butterflies and moths that are native to Hong Kong. Visitors can learn about the life cycle of butterflies and their importance in the ecosystem.

Another attraction in the park is the Insectarium, which is home to a large number of insects. The Insectarium has over 200 species of insects, including butterflies, beetles, and spiders. Visitors can learn about the different types of insects and their role in the ecosystem. The Insectarium also has a section dedicated to honeybees, where visitors can learn about beekeeping and the importance of honeybees in the environment.

The Hong Kong Wetland Park also has several outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy. The park has a boardwalk that visitors can walk on to explore the different habitats in the reserve. The boardwalk is surrounded by mangroves, which are an important part of the wetland ecosystem. Visitors can also take a boat ride to explore the park’s waterways and observe the different species of fish and waterbirds.

In addition to its ecological attractions, the Hong Kong Wetland Park also has several dining options for visitors. The park has a restaurant that serves Chinese and Western cuisine, as well as a snack bar that serves light refreshments.

The Hong Kong Wetland Park is a unique attraction in the city that offers visitors a chance to explore the diversity of wetland wildlife and habitat. It is a popular destination for families and nature lovers, who can learn about the importance of wetlands and their conservation. The park is open daily from 10am to 5pm, and admission fees are reasonable, making it accessible to everyone.

It's a great eco-learning center, readily accessible by public transportation, bring your camera with telescopic lens. Children like to watch the crocodiles and play in the playground, view birds and mangroves here. Birds prepare themselves for long-distance migration during migration seasons, and one group of ten to twenty birds takes off in order, a phenomenal sight!
