The Sharjah Renewal was announced as a UNESCO World Book Capital in 2019. The House of Wisdom Sharjah honors a new emirate theme and is an extension of a method based on developmental knowledge in doctrine. Unesco World Book Capital 2019
In 2019, Sharjah was recognized as a UNESCO World Book Capital. It was only the third city in the Arab World and the first city in the UAE to receive and receive this prestigious title. The Sharjah House of Wisdom has a collection of 305,000 books, of which 11,000 are in various languages and 200,000 are digital. There are also Braille publications, ensuring universal involvement. House of Wisdom Sharjah has a workshop – Al Jazari Laboratory named after renowned designer Badi Alzaman Al Jazari. The lab is equipped with a high-quality 3D printer that members can use to work on projects to test and construct prototypes of non-innovative objects. It serves as a beautiful central area, the yard is designed as an outdoor public space. Under the open sky and full of living plants, the yard of the House of Wisdom is where you can enjoy a good book or conversation while surrounded by nature. In addition to the plants and outdoor study spaces, the yard has private pods on the floor and is suspended in the air. These pods can be used for private meetings, classes and private reading. There is also a auditorium that can serve as a study area, exhibition center, or group for field service. One of the most distinctive features of the House of Wisdom in Sharjah is its floating roof. Designed by Foster + Partners – an award-winning construction company based in the UK, the building has a flexible design and a floating roof with the help of cantilevered overhangs. The building is made of glass and is adequately protected from natural elements with bamboo shades and clever roof.
A Full-Service House Of Wisdom App
The Sharjah House of Wisdom Library recently launched its mobile app. This app will provide enthusiasts with easy access to all the services of the House of Wisdom, from bookkeeping to ordering coffee at a restaurant.
