The park’s plans began in 2007 but were halted by the global financial crisis. Warner Bros. had signed a development contract with Aldar Properties that year. After that, the park was supposed to be jointly owned by Abu Dhabi Media Company, Aldar, and Warner Bros. and plans included 19 rides. The partnership will include a Persian Gulf-based entertainment company distributing digital content, marketing, video game publishing, funding film, and film production facilities. Aldar, because of the crisis, sold most of his assets to the Abu Dhabi government. IM Miral Asset Management was funded and donated to other Aldar assets purchased by the government.
In May 2015, Miral signed a general construction contract with Belgian contractor Six Construct, thus resuming construction that year. On April 19, 2016, M Miral and Warner Bros announced plans for the first phase of the park to open in 2018. By then, all construction contracts had been finalized and 30% of the park was completed. M Miral had not yet confirmed the final count of the park at the time. Miral announced in February 2017 that the delivery of installation and installation has begun with a maximum of 29 rides. On April 25, 2017, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Miral indicated that the park was planned to be completed by 60%, and revealed details of its six-story locations. On July 24, 2018, the park was opened by the Deputy President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Governor of the Daily Her Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the UAE Armed Forces Her Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The theme park is indoors and has a completely cool atmosphere, as is common in large theme parks in the region due to the extreme heat of summer. The facade includes a 61-meter (200 ft) tower inspired by the iconic Warner Bros. Water Tower in Burbank, California.
