Indoor Skydiving

iFLY Sydney Indoor Skydiving is a state-of-the-art indoor skydiving facility located in Penrith, New South Wales, Australia. It is one of the most popular attractions in the area, offering a unique experience of skydiving in a safe, controlled environment. The facility is open to people of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to experienced skydivers.

The concept of indoor skydiving was first introduced in the early 1990s when a wind tunnel was built to simulate the experience of freefall. Since then, indoor skydiving has become a popular sport around the world. It provides an opportunity for people to experience the thrill of skydiving without having to jump out of an airplane. Indoor skydiving is also used for training by professional skydivers and military personnel.

iFLY Sydney Indoor Skydiving is a world-class facility that features a vertical wind tunnel that generates winds of up to 250 km/h. The wind tunnel is made up of a large circular chamber with a diameter of 4.3 meters and a height of 14 meters. The wind is generated by four powerful fans that are mounted on top of the chamber. The fans suck in air through the bottom of the chamber and push it up through the top, creating a vertical column of air that simulates the experience of freefall.

The wind speed in the chamber is controlled by a computer system that adjusts the speed of the fans based on the weight and skill level of the person in the chamber. The computer system also adjusts the wind speed to simulate different altitudes, allowing people to experience the sensation of skydiving from different heights.

Before entering the wind tunnel, all participants are given a safety briefing and training on the proper body position and hand signals. They are also provided with a jumpsuit, helmet, and goggles to protect them from the wind. The training takes around 20 minutes, and participants are accompanied by an experienced instructor who guides them through the entire experience.

The experience of indoor skydiving is exhilarating and unlike anything else. Participants are lifted off their feet by the force of the wind and are able to move around freely in the chamber. They can perform a range of maneuvers, such as turns, flips, and spins, all while feeling the sensation of freefall. The experience is similar to that of skydiving, but without the risk or expense.

iFLY Sydney Indoor Skydiving offers a range of packages for participants, including single flights, multiple flights, and group bookings. They also offer special packages for children and for those who want to experience the thrill of indoor skydiving for the first time. The facility is open seven days a week, making it easy for people to book a flight at a time that suits them.

In addition to the indoor skydiving experience, iFLY Sydney also offers a range of other activities and services. They have a viewing gallery where friends and family can watch the participants as they fly in the wind tunnel. They also have a café where visitors can relax and enjoy a meal or a drink. The facility is wheelchair accessible, and they offer special packages for people with disabilities.

iFLY Sydney Indoor Skydiving is committed to safety, and they have a team of experienced instructors who ensure that all participants have a safe and enjoyable experience. The facility is also regularly inspected and maintained to ensure that it is in top condition.

Overall, iFLY Sydney Indoor Skydiving is a unique and thrilling experience that is suitable for people of all ages and skill levels. It offers the opportunity to experience the sensation of freefall without the risk or expense of traditional skydiving. The facility is world-class and is sure to provide an unforgettable experience for anyone who tries it.

One of the great things about iFLY Sydney Indoor Skydiving is that it is a year-round activity. Regardless of the weather outside, participants can enjoy the thrill of indoor skydiving in a safe and controlled environment. This makes it a great activity for families, groups of friends, and even corporate events.

In addition to offering a unique and exciting activity, iFLY Sydney Indoor Skydiving also has a positive impact on the community. The facility employs a team of instructors, administrators, and other staff, providing jobs and opportunities for local residents. It also attracts visitors from around the world, helping to boost the local economy.

iFLY Sydney Indoor Skydiving is also committed to giving back to the community. They offer special packages and discounts for schools, charities, and other organizations. They also support local charities and events, such as the annual Penrith Relay for Life, which raises money for cancer research and support.

For those who are interested in taking their indoor skydiving skills to the next level, iFLY Sydney offers training and coaching for competitive indoor skydiving. The facility has a team of experienced coaches who can help participants develop their skills and techniques. They also host regular events and competitions for indoor skydiving enthusiasts.

Indoor skydiving is not only a fun and exciting activity, but it also has a number of health benefits. It is a great way to improve cardiovascular fitness, as the wind resistance in the chamber provides a low-impact workout for the entire body. It also helps to improve balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.

iFLY Sydney Indoor Skydiving is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Children as young as three years old can participate, as long as they meet the height and weight requirements. The facility also offers special packages for birthday parties, school groups, and other special events.

Overall, iFLY Sydney Indoor Skydiving is a world-class facility that offers a unique and thrilling experience for people of all ages and skill levels. FAQ's

How long is a flight?

Strangely, we never ask how long a skydive lasts but this is the opposite at a wind tunnel. We replicate the skydiving experience and offer flights which are about 1½ times longer than a tandem jump. So each flight is about a minute, often a bit longer but never shorter than 50 seconds. A double flight is about 120 seconds long. Please remember we are selling the exhilarating indoor skydiving experience which should never be measured in terms of time! It may not sound long but as a first time flyer it will seem much longer during the experience itself.

Can children take part?

Are you kidding us - kids love it here! Seriously, we can fly anyone aged 3 to 103 providing you are in a state of reasonable health and fitness, and can fit into one of our flight suits and helmets.

Does an adult have to accompany flyers under 18yrs?

Flyers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (over 18 yrs of age) on the day of flight. The parent / guardian will be required to provide a signature for their waiver as well as attend the classroom briefing. If you are bringing a group / party, the organiser can sign on behalf of multiple participants as a guardian. To save time, please complete your waiver prior to arrival. It is particularly important that you take note of the information regarding previously dislocated shoulders.

What should I wear?

That's easy. Dress in comfy clothes (shirts without collars are best) Wear lace-up trainers Bring a hairbrush if you have long hair

Can I wear glasses in the wind tunnel?

If you wear glasses, we can provide extra large goggles that fit neatly over your glasses, meaning your sight is not obstructed during your flights. Contact lenses can also be worn under standard goggles but please note, there's always a small risk they may come out.

What do I need to bring with me on the day?

Firstly, we ask that every flyer completes a waiver before arrival which can be done online here. It is particularly important that you take note of the information regarding previously dislocated shoulders. Please arrive at iFLY comfortably dressed (avoid collars and hoods) and bring a pair of well fitting lace-up trainers. We find that jeans, t-shirt and a pair of skate/running shoes are ideal. If you don't have a pair of lace-up trainers, don't worry, we do have appropriate footwear for hire If you have long hair we recommend bringing something to tie it up and maybe a brush. You should be prepared to remove all loose items and all items of jewellery before flying. Whilst we do have basic lockers on site, we suggest leaving valuable items at home for real peace of mind.

Do I need to bring ID or paperwork?

All you need is your confirmation email (either printed, or on your phone is fine). You should complete your waiver online here before you arrive if possible, as this will save time on the day.

You can also call our dedicated customer service team on 1300 435 928

Are there any unforeseen costs on the day?

No, once you have made your reservation, you have paid for your flight experience. However, we do have a number of optional extras that can be purchased on the day of your flight. Many customers ask us why we don’t include certain extras in the basic cost of our flight experiences and it’s a good point. The downside is that including extras would simply add a bit to the cost for everyone coming to fly and we don’t think that’s fair. However if you want to add pictures, videos, additional flights or have a High Flight experience we do charge for them as extras. For more information specifically about our extras please get in touch with us.

Do you have strobe lighting & flash photography?

Flight sessions involve occasional flash photography (the driver of our wind tunnel will be taking snaps of flyers mid-flight) and occasional strobe lighting. This should not affect your ability to fly or spectate, but please contact us before arrival if you think we should know about any conditions such as epilepsy or seizures. We may be able to adjust our systems to accomodate.

Is it difficult to breathe in the wind tunnel?

No, it’s just like breathing normally actually…..so there is no specialist breathing equipment required. Just relax and breathing will come naturally. If you do suffer from any breathing difficulties such as Asthma, don’t worry, in most cases you’ll still find flying a comfortable experience and be able to breathe normally. However we do recommend you contact us with any queries so we can offer further advice.

I've heard about the High Flight experience... how do I get this?

The High Flight is the equivalent of a hot-lap on a track day where instructors will be able to give you a taste of what’s its like to fly like a pro as they take hold of you and fly you around the tunnel, occasionally high up towards the top. iFLY endeavours to offer the High Flight in as many sessions as possible but owing to the specialist training and experience level required, we are unable to guarantee it. Remembering that Indoor Skydiving is a skill based pursuit, we do encourage flyers to be in control of their own experience and to fly independently of their instructor. The High Flight for that reason is an ‘extra’ and not a standard feature of any iFLY experience. Instructors able to offer the High Flight are among the most experienced in the world, undergoing hours of rigorous training before they are licensed* to fly with others. If an instructor with the appropriate license deems he can fly safely with an iFLY customer, and enhance their experience at the same time, then the High Flight will be offered. If you have any questions regarding the High Flight, we urge you to speak to a member of the Flight team in advance of your flight. Due to safety, High Flights are unavailable for those that weigh 118kg+ Get in touch with us, we’re happy to answer any questions you may have. *High Flight licenses are issued by the independent governing body of our sport, the International Bodyflight Association (IBA).

Does iFLY record telephone calls?

Calls made to our friendly Customer Service Team may be recorded for quality and training purposes only.
