Fujairah Free Zone (FFZ) is a special economic zone in Fujairah, one of the seven kings comprising the United Arab Emirates. Fujairah Free Zone is located just north of the emirate capital, Fujairah City. Operated by Fujairah Free Zone Authority (FFZA).
Overview
The free site provides a tax-free environment for Fujairah companies. Nearby are the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone and the coastal Fujairah Port which provides access to the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean. There are air cargo links through Fujairah International Airport south of Fujairah City. The area is also known as Sakamkam and is close to the historic Sakamkam Fort. Creative City is another free zone of Fujairah.
Fujairah is the fifth largest of the seven United Arab Emirates and the only coastline in the Gulf of Oman. There are two major free zones in Fujairah – Fujairah Creative City and Fujairah Free Zone. Both offer different types of licenses and are more expensive compared to Free Dubai-based Free Zone. This makes them an attractive option, especially for start-ups and freelancers who do not require physical office space. Fujairah Free Zone (FFZ) is owned by Fujairah Free Zone Authority. It provides excellent communication and offers the following types of licenses: General Trade and Trade License; Production License; Housing License; Consultation / Service License; and Industrial License.
Establishing a company in FFZ has the following benefits:
Exemption from import duties and finished goods for the purpose of export and re-export outside the UAE. Clients do not need to pay for services on factory equipment or equipment used in production; All types of business are considered, subject to the approval of the Fujairah Free Zone Authority; There are no minimum payment requirements to establish a company in the Free Zone. AED 150,000 is the common share capital of the Free Zone Establishment (FZE) or Free Zone Company (FZC) but the minimum fees and fees vary depending on the type of license; There is currently no law that mandates the employment of UAE people.
Benefits
Fujairah Creative City: By default, the license will be issued within seven days, prompting the owner to apply for the company’s bank account. Free Zone is automatically activated on the Migration Card, which lasts between 10 and 15 working days. Once this has been issued, the owner can apply for a residence permit in the UAE. FCC licensees can have a registered address within one of the Dubai-based FCC business centers and use the services for a certain number of hours per month. This is good for UAE customers in the short term because they do not need to go to Fujairah.
Fujairah Free Zone: Once an application for this new company has been submitted, the license can be issued within one day. After that, it will take 5 to 10 working days to issue an arrival card and you can apply for a residency visa. The Free Zone also offers a variety of packages such as warehouses, land plots, offices, and visual offices.
Requirements for setting up a company
To begin the process of establishing the Free Zone Company, we will need the following encouragement from all shareholders / directors of the proposed new company:Certified copy of passport and UAE Visa / UAE entry stamp (if you are not resident), 2 x Proof of address (3 months), Bank Reference Book, CV – Short Technical Domain, Company Application Form (which we will provide)
Please note that Free Zones may request a detailed business plan, depending on the business activity of the proposed new company. We have a variety of templates that can be used to help you. Each Free Zone has its own administrative authority, so requirements will vary from free zones to free zones, but most follow the same framework. There are two types of companies you can start in the Free Zone – Sole Establishment (FZE) with one shareholder and Free Zone Company (FZCO) with two or more shareholders. Both individual and private shareholders are allowed.
A manager must be appointed by the company and this person will be in charge of the day to day operations of the company and will be responsible for the operation of the bank account and the signing of any contracts on behalf of the company. The vessel will also be required to sign on any changes made to the company’s structure. The manager must be a UAE citizen or intend to take up residence. All Free Zone companies have a trading license that is specific to their business activity. You may obtain licenses for Consultancy, Trading, Manufacturing or Industrial Services and, as mentioned above, both of these free Zones are concentrated in specific industries. If you need office space, your office should be located within the Free Zone itself because all Free Zone companies must have a registered address within the Free Zone. The Governor can help by establishing a Free Zone Company in the UAE. For more information please contact:
