Skydiving is an exhilarating experience that involves jumping from an aircraft at high altitude and freefalling before opening a parachute to glide back to the ground. Skydive Dubai is a company that offers skydiving experiences in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. In this article, we will explore the different types of skydiving experiences offered by Skydive Dubai and what makes them unique.
Tandem Skydiving:
Tandem skydiving is the most popular type of skydiving experience offered by Skydive Dubai. It is a great option for those who are new to skydiving or do not have any prior experience. In tandem skydiving, a qualified instructor jumps with the participant, and the two are connected by a harness. The instructor takes care of all the technical details, including deploying the parachute, and the participant gets to enjoy the thrill of the experience.
Skydive Dubai offers tandem skydiving from two locations, the Palm Dropzone and the Desert Campus Dropzone. The Palm Dropzone is located on the iconic Palm Jumeirah, offering stunning views of the Dubai skyline, while the Desert Campus Dropzone is located in the desert, providing a unique and breathtaking experience.
Solo Skydiving:
Solo skydiving is for those who have previous skydiving experience and hold a valid license. Skydive Dubai offers solo skydiving at the Desert Campus Dropzone, which is a world-class facility that provides everything a licensed skydiver needs, including gear rental, coaching, and training. Solo skydiving allows experienced skydivers to enjoy the freedom and exhilaration of jumping out of an aircraft and freefalling before deploying their parachute and landing safely.
Training:
Skydive Dubai also offers training for those who are interested in becoming licensed skydivers. The training programs are designed to take participants from their first jump to becoming a licensed skydiver. The training includes both ground school and in-air training, where participants will learn about equipment, safety procedures, and jump techniques. Upon completion of the training program, participants will receive a license that allows them to jump solo.
Facilities:
Skydive Dubai has world-class facilities that cater to skydivers of all levels. The Palm Dropzone is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, a comfortable lounge area, and a training room. The Desert Campus Dropzone is a purpose-built facility that includes a mock-up aircraft for practicing exits, a wind tunnel for training, and a swimming pool for water training.
Safety:
Safety is a top priority at Skydive Dubai. The company has a team of highly qualified and experienced instructors who follow strict safety procedures and guidelines. All equipment is regularly inspected and maintained to ensure that it is safe and in good working condition.
Skydiving is an incredible experience that provides a rush of adrenaline and a sense of freedom. Skydive Dubai offers a range of skydiving experiences that cater to people of all skill levels, from first-time tandem skydivers to experienced solo skydivers. With world-class facilities, highly trained instructors, and a strong focus on safety, Skydive Dubai is a top choice for anyone looking to experience the thrill of skydiving in Dubai.

FAQ's
How do I book a tandem skydive?
Tandem skydives at our Palm and desert dropzones can be reserved online through our secure live booking calendar, or purchased in person.
Can I purchase a skydive as a gift?
Of course! Tandem gift certificates are available for our Palm Dropzone and can only be purchased online. Gift certificates make perfect presents for the adrenaline and extreme-sports lovers in your life. Please note: Gift certificates are for personal use only, and the person using it must meet our requirements.
What is a tandem skydive?
A tandem skydive means that you will skydive while securely attached to a qualified instructor. Your instructor will deploy your parachute, navigate to the landing area, and control the parachute to ensure a safe and soft landing. At Skydive Dubai, a camera flyer will also accompany you to capture every unbelievable second. So, all you have to do is enjoy the moment, and smile for the camera!
I haven’t made a booking. Can I still skydive?
We have a waiting list option at both dropzones. Show up early and put your name down. If there’s an available slot that day, you might just get it! Please note, there are no guarantees people will get their turn – but if you’re not on the list, you won’t be on the plane! The waiting list is compiled on a first-come-first-served basis, so it’s always a good idea to arrive just before the dropzone opens. You must wait at the dropzone to get on the waiting list, we will not be able to call you in case of availability. Review our requirements before arrival to avoid disappointment.
I want to make a booking, but the calendar doesn’t show my dates.
Tandem skydiving reservations for both dropzones are generally available to book one to three months in advance. This is to avoid any unforeseen schedule changes, ensure aircraft availability, and to avoid overbooking during periods of aircraft maintenance. If your preferred dates are not currently displayed, they haven’t yet been opened to bookings. Check back regularly to see when new slots become available. If you are unable to book your selected dates because we are already fully booked, you may still be able to skydive by joining our daily tandem skydiving waiting list, or by choosing to book your skydive at our second location. Please note, there are no guarantees that people will get their turn in either option.
How fast will I fall?
The average human body falls at approximately 120 miles per hour, although this can increase or decrease based on body size and position.
How long does freefall last?
Freefall lasts approximately 60 seconds. After the parachute is deployed, you will then have a relaxing canopy descent lasting four to five minutes.
How long is the tandem experience?
The whole experience can take at least three hours from check-in, and sometimes longer if there are delays because of the weather. You will meet your instructor approximately 15 minutes before you board the aircraft. Once on board, the take-off, ascent, skydive, and landing takes approximately 20 minutes. Your videos and pictures will be ready for collection about 45 minutes after you land.
From what altitude will I skydive?
All tandem skydives at both our locations exit from 13,000 feet (4,000m).
Is skydiving safe?
As with any adventure sport, skydiving has an element of risk. However, we minimize this risk by using state-of-the-art training and equipment. Our tandem requirements also help us maintain our safety procedures. All Skydive Dubai equipment is equipped with an automatic activation device (AAD), which will automatically deploy the parachute in the unlikely event that your instructor is unable to do so. All of our skydiving tandem instructors have undergone rigorous selection, training, and certification, and all parachutes are maintained under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rigger supervision. Our impressive fleet of aircraft is maintained to the very highest standards. Your safety really is our primary concern.
Does weather affect skydiving?
Yes, weather can affect skydiving. In the UAE we are lucky as we don’t tend to see too much cloud cover, but poor visibility, precipitation, or winds (especially at higher altitudes) can sometimes delay proceedings. If this is the case, our safety and training officer or other qualified personnel will put the operation on a ‘standby’. This doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t get to skydive. Usually, it just means you may have to wait a bit longer to do so. If poor conditions persist, we may have to cancel operations for the day. If we cancel, you can reschedule to the next available date, apply for a refund or transfer your deposit to Skyhub's Gyrocopter flight experience.
What does “standby” mean?
A standby is when skydiving operations are temporarily suspended due to weather conditions. In the UAE, our main interference comes from the wind, at ground level, and at altitude. If there is a standby, conditions will be constantly monitored, and operations will resume once conditions are deemed suitable. If conditions do not improve, operations will be canceled.
What is the process for getting on the plane?
Before your skydive, you will receive a full tandem briefing, and your camera flyer will interview you. You will be escorted to the boarding area, where you will receive a pre-boarding safety check, and you will get your pictures taken. You, your instructor and your videographer will then board the aircraft.
Will I skydive at my check-in time?
No, the time mentioned on your reservation confirmation is the time you need to arrive at our location. It is not the time of your skydive. You should plan to spend about three to four hours at the dropzone, as weather and other factors can play a part.
When will I receive my photos and video?
You can collect your USB containing photos and an edited video at our gear store about 45 minutes after your skydive.
I have booked another activity after my skydive. Will I be finished in time?
Our teams at both our locations work hard to get you in the air as soon as they can. Weather conditions on the ground and/or at opening altitude, or other factors, may result in delays, so please ensure you have a flexible schedule on the day of your skydive. We cannot guarantee you will be finished at a particular time. Plan to spend between 3 to 4 hours for your experience from the time of check-in. If our skydiving operations are on standby, you are more than welcome to reschedule for another day.
Will I need insurance?
Skydive Dubai's Palm Dropzone offers third-party insurance to tandem students. This is available for purchase when you check in on the day of your skydive, at an additional cost of AED 50.
I want to book a skydive for a special occasion. Can you accommodate?

Something’s come up. I need to reschedule!
Individuals can reschedule up to 24 hours before the reservation date. Groups of two or more can reschedule up to 72 hours before their reservation date. If you cancel or reschedule without the required notice, your deposit will be forfeited. What is the best way to get in touch with the tandem staff team?
Please get in touch with our staff using the form on the Contact Us page.
What if I love skydiving and want to learn to do it myself?
That happens to a lot of people! If you have been inspired to continue skydiving after your tandem skydive, the first step is to book an Accelerated Freefall (AFF) course.
Do you offer other services apart from skydiving?
We do! We offer facility rentals, demonstration skydives for brands and businesses, and we can organize or host any number of special events. Get in touch to see what we can do for you.
